Meet the leadership team

Dr Barry Thompson

Vice President Marketing and Business Development

Dr. Barry Thompson is a results-oriented individual with over twenty-five years of experience in effective lead generation, sales, account, and territory management. His career has spanned direct sales, indirect alliance/partner management, and operations. With an advanced degree in adult leadership, Barry is skilled in sales and partner training, curriculum development, and instructional design. He has developed and implemented sales strategies for territory development and has a strong track record of collaboration with multiple internal and external resources. Barry’s expertise helps align organizational initiatives, KPIs, and business needs.

At Dynamic Compaction Solutions, Barry’s role as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development involves working independently on lead generation and qualification, identifying and developing resources relevant to business development and sales goals, and selling the ideals and services of the organization to the general public to improve sales generation. He oversees organizational effectiveness, management development, and leadership development within the company. Barry also ensures top-level client experience in all interactions, from follow-up to delivery and needs assessment. He attracts and retains clients by developing highly creative outreach strategies, and aligning with operational procedures to achieve revenue generation and sales growth goals.

With 34 years in the industry, Barry holds a BSc in Organizational Leadership, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Education. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, boating, cycling, traveling, and playing rugby and other sports. Barry also cherishes the time he spends with his eight grandchildren, finding balance and fulfillment both professionally and personally.

Simon Dix

Vice President Quality Services

Simon Dix’s experience spans over 21 years, during which he has gained proficiency in a broad range of tasks and responsibilities in civil, ground, geotechnical engineering, and mining. His expertise in the ground improvement (GI) sector includes company management, project management, engineering, leading safety initiatives, repair and maintenance accountability, stakeholder liaison, GI feasibility studies, contract negotiations, marketing, and sales.

At Dynamic Compaction Solutions, Simon’s responsibilities include planning, conducting, and reporting on all testing. He manages test equipment and software, conducts field testing on all sites before, during, and after compaction, and provides analysis and reporting. This testing includes CPT, PL, and other necessary testing forms. Simon is also responsible for analyzing geotechnical investigation reports, in-situ tests, and laboratory tests, and ensuring specifications are met through both in-situ and laboratory testing.

Simon’s qualifications include recognition from Engineers Australia (Contact ID 3429662), Engineering Technologist certification from Australia ASCO 2128-79, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Engineering with Marketing and Management from Harper Adams University, Shropshire, UK. Outside of work, Simon is a keen sportsman with interests in kiteboarding, cricket, golf, squash, rugby, and rock climbing, and he is a certified PADI diver. He has traveled extensively across Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South America, enjoying the diverse cultures and adventures they offer.

John Ibrahim

Vice President of Operations

Starting as an apprentice, John Ibrahim has accumulated 30 years of experience working with the Conplant Group in Australia. His journey has seen him rise through the ranks, holding positions such as Workshop Manager, Field Service Manager, National Service Manager, National Parts Manager, and National After Sales Manager. When Dynamic Compaction Solutions opened in the USA, John accepted the role of Vice President of Operations.

At Dynamic Compaction Solutions, John’s role involves maintaining stock, overseeing all compaction equipment, spares, and replacements, and supporting our internal staff for all their spare parts and service needs. He coordinates with suppliers, manages logistics for all equipment and testing equipment to and from customer sites, and handles the acquisition of new equipment while overseeing the workshop. John is also responsible for safety and compliance. He is responsible for the hiring and the training and development of the technical team.

John’s extensive experience and dedication to the industry are further supported by his Safety Certification. Outside of work, John enjoys rugby, travel, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. His commitment to excellence and passion for the industry make him an invaluable member of our team.
